Began his career as an infielder with the National A.C. in the early 30’s. Moving on to the Post 209 team of the 40’s, he was a 3-sport, 4-year letterman in each at old Central High. He was recognized as All-City 3rd baseman on 2 occasions. In the Army he played on the base team which boasted of having 6 Major League players before serving overseas, where he received the Silver Star Medal for Valor. He returned to Akron AA League with the VFW team 1070 and Army-Navy Post 273. He wound up his playing days with Tiny’s Orphans. His lifetime batting average was over .300.
