Long and illustrious career as a player and coach. Served 27 years as the Head Baseball Coach at the University of Akron and retired in 2000 as the winningest Ohio coach ever (774 victories) in NCAA Division I Baseball (13 state universities). Also noted for his managing and playing career (25 years and 16 all-star selections) in the highly-competitive Canton Class A Baseball League, where his achievements included several league batting championships and MVP awards.
