Don Booth attended Elyria High School before continuing his baseball career at Kent State University. He became a fixture in Portage County and throughout the Akron-area baseball community.
As a player, Don competed in the NEO Roy Hobbs League for more than 30 years. He also served as player-manager of the Kent Mudhens for 21 years and participated in the Roy Hobbs World Series for more than three decades.
Don’s impact extended well beyond his playing career. He coached numerous youth baseball and softball teams and also served as a coach for the Cuyahoga Falls High School junior varsity and freshman baseball teams.
As an administrator, Don dedicated many years to supporting adult baseball in Northeast Ohio. He served on the Kent Amateur Baseball Commission for eight years, managed the Kent Mudhens for 21 years, chaired the NEO Roy Hobbs Board of Governors for 16 years, and served as President of the NEO Roy Hobbs Board of Trustees for two years.
