Steve Sosebee is a 1984 graduate of Kent Roosevelt High School, where he was a four-year letterman. Sosebee began playing Roy Hobbs in Akron in 1993 with the Colt 45s and later with the Akron Knights. He was the starting catcher on seven championship teams in Akron, three in Canton, and two in the Roy Hobbs World Series in Fort Myers Florida. He played on the Palestinian National Baseball team, which took a silver medal in the 2023 Asian Cup in Islamabad.
He is currently working to build a baseball field and program for youth in the Gaza Strip. His father, George Sosebee, was the head baseball coach at Hudson High School and is in the Ohio Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame. Steve has two daughters, Deema and Jenna, with his first wife Huda, who passed 14 years ago from Leukemia. He currently resides in Kent, Ohio with his wife, Dr. Zeena Salman, and their two children, Layla and Waseem.
