Year Inducted – 2023

Randy Schoenly is a 1972 graduate of the Barney Deary’s Umpire Development Program in St. Petersburg Florida.  He joined the Summit Umpire Association and immediately became an instructor who passed along his knowledge to young hopefuls in the umpiring classes.  He soon became known as a fine umpire working in northeastern Ohio college games at Akron, Kent, Malone, Walsh, Ashland, Case Western and others.

He worked a full schedule of high school games and Sectional, District, Regional, and State-level games.  When there was a league championship game to be umpired Schoenly was one of the first umpires contacted.  He also served as president of the Summit Umpires Association.  He had the perfect demeanor for an umpire … “he liked nothing better than a good argument.”
