Year Inducted – 1988

Paul Carroll began his career on the sandlots of West Akron in the mid 1920’s. He played on the Wright American Legion team as a youth. His hitting ability soon provided him with the opportunity to play for the legendary Killian Celtics, where his play caught the eye of the New York Yankee scouting staff. He was signed and sent to Butler, then to the Akron Yankees and to Charleston. He answered the call of the service for WW II, and played on several Air Force teams that were comprised of Major League players before going overseas. After the war he joined the Goodyear Wingfoots and had 3 good years, hitting well over .300. He then began a 10 year career of teaching, coaching and managing youth baseball on the west side. He has truly been an inspiration to many youngsters.
