Andre ThortonBorn in Alabama, Andre grew up in Philadelphia playing Little league and Babe Ruth Baseball. Andre signed with the Chicago Cubs out of high school spending 4 years in the minors. He played 4 years with the Cubs then 1 year with Montreal before being traded to Cleveland for Jackie Brown – making it one of the best trades in Tribe history. He played 11 years with Cleveland, leading the team in home runs 7 times, made the All-Star team in 1982 and 1984. His play at first base and designated hitter coupled with his passion for community service in his adopted city earned him the prestigious Roberto Clemente Award. Andre clobbered Milwaukee in his career by blasting 31 home runs, getting 87 RBI with a .308 average against the Brew Crew. And, he was named one of Cleveland's “Top 100“ players in their history.
